Marriage Green Card - Documents That Helped Our Case

Our marriage-based green card was just approved in 11 months! I want to share the documents that I think really helped our case.

Proof of bona fide marriage (what we submitted):

Financial:

  • Joint bank account statements (2 years)
  • Joint credit card
  • Joint lease agreement
  • Joint car insurance
  • Beneficiary designations (401k, life insurance)

Living together:

  • Utility bills with both names
  • Amazon/online orders to same address
  • Voter registration at same address
  • Driver's li...

This is gold! Saving this post. We're about to file our I-485 and I was worried about not having joint property. Good to know that's not a dealbreaker.

Quick question - did you include the affidavits with your initial filing or bring them to the interview?

@carlos_family_gc We included 2 affidavits with the initial filing and brought 2 more to the interview. The ones in the initial filing were from family members who attended our wedding. The additional ones were from friends who know us as a couple.

Each affidavit was about 1 page, describing how they know us, how long they've known us together, and specific examples of us as a couple (attending events together, etc.).
