Asylum Approved - Now Applying for Green Card

My asylum case was approved after 3 years of waiting. Now I'm applying for green card (1 year after approval as required). Sharing my journey.

My asylum timeline:

  • Applied: March 2022
  • Interview: July 2022
  • Referred to immigration court: September 2022
  • Court hearings: Multiple over 2 years
  • Approved: August 2025

Now filing for GC:

  • Filing I-485 (adjustment of status)
  • 1 year waiting period complete
  • Principal applicant + spouse (derivative)

For asylum-based GC, I've heard it's relatively straightforward since you've already been through extensive vetting. Good luck with your filing!
