Replied to: H1B Lottery 2026 - When do registrations open?
Based on the pattern, FY2027 lottery registration should open around March 1, 2026. Keep an eye on USCIS announcements starting February. For cap-gap, yes you'll be covered if selected. Your status auto-extends until October 1 when H1B starts. Small company approval rates depend more on documentation quality than company size these days. Make sure they prepare a strong petition!

Replied to: H1B Lottery Selected After 3 Years - Don't Give Up!
@yuki_f1_to_h1b My employer was very supportive throughout. They knew the lottery is random and out of our control. I was fortunate to work for a company that valued me enough to keep trying. If your employer is hesitant, remind them there's no cost to register ($10 fee). The real cost only comes if you're selected. Most companies understand this now.

Replied to: H1B Cap-Exempt to Cap-Subject - What I Learned
This explanation is super clear! I was cap-exempt at a university for my first H1B and then moved to industry. Since I was already counted in the lottery when I got selected, I didn't need to go through lottery again for the industry job. The confusing part is people mix up "cap-exempt employment" with "counted against cap." They're different things!
