I-485 Marriage Based - Interview Experience Miami Field Office

Just had our marriage-based green card interview today at the Miami field office. Sharing my experience for others preparing.

Timeline:

  • I-130 + I-485 filed: March 2025
  • Biometrics: April 2025
  • EAD/AP combo card: June 2025
  • Interview scheduled: September 2025
  • Interview date: Today!

Interview details:

  • Arrived 30 mins early, waited about 45 mins
  • Officer was professional and friendly
  • Questions asked:
    • How did you meet?
    • When did you start dating?
    • Describe your weddin...

7 months is great! Ours took 11 months but we also got approved on the spot. The relief when the officer says "approved" is indescribable!

This is helpful for when we do our AOS after the K1 wedding! Did they ask about finances at all? We're a bit worried about the income requirement.

@juan_k1_fiance They didn't ask us about finances during the interview itself - they reviewed the I-864 affidavit separately. As long as you meet the 125% poverty guideline, you should be fine. You can also use a joint sponsor if needed.
