I-130 for Spouse - NVC Stage Questions

My I-130 petition for my spouse (he's in Mexico) was approved. Now at NVC stage. Have some questions!

My timeline so far:

  • I-130 filed: February 2025
  • I-130 approved: August 2025
  • Case sent to NVC: September 2025
  • NVC case created: September 2025

Current stage:

  • Paid $445 immigrant visa fee
  • Paid $120 affidavit of support fee
  • Now need to submit documents

Questions:

  1. What documents does NVC need?
    • DS-260 online form
    • I-864 Affidavit of Support + financial docs ...

I feel you on the separation anxiety! We were apart for 18 months during K1 processing. It's hard but you'll get through it.

For your question about spouse visiting US - it's risky. With a pending immigrant petition, a tourist visa might be denied for immigrant intent. Most attorneys recommend against it unless there's a compelling reason.

NVC stage can be confusing! Here's what helped us:

  1. Create CEAC account immediately
  2. Pay fees as soon as invoice is available
  3. Submit DS-260 carefully - it's hard to change later
  4. Scan documents clearly and label them properly
  5. I-864 needs petitioner's tax returns, W2s, and employment letter

Ciudad Juarez wait times vary. I've seen 6-9 months for interview after DQ recently. Check forums for current wait times.

Hang in there! The separation is the hardest part.
