Consular Processing vs AOS - Why I Chose CP

Why I chose CP:

  1. Was planning India trip anyway
  2. Faster overall timeline (for me)
  3. Wanted clean entry as immigrant
  4. Avoid AOS interview lottery

CP timeline:

  • Priority date current: February 2025
  • I-140 already approved (filed 2022)
  • DS-260 submitted: March 2025
  • Documents sent to NVC: April 2025
  • NVC documentarily ...

I chose CP too! Best decision for my situation. Chennai was efficient and professional. The key is having all documents ready and organized.

For anyone considering CP: it's faster IF you can travel and don't need EAD/AP while waiting. If you need to work for new employer or travel before GC, AOS makes more sense.
